ENTER A SWEET DESIGN’s First Annual Junior Cake Decorator Competition

To help you start a great career in baking or becoming a master chef, A SWEET DESIGN is holding a cake decorating contest with a championship prize of a CULINARY SCHOLARSHIP WORTH $500, a winner’s trophy and other prizes.

OPEN to boys or girls AGES 13-17 with basic cake decorating skills.

TO REGISTER – SUBMIT a 250-words or LESS ESSAY on WHY you want to have a culinary career and where you see yourself in ten years.

ALL ESSAY SUBMISSIONS/REGISTRATIONS MUST BE EMAILED TO cake@asweetdesign.info

ON or BEFORE 9:59AM  on August 25, 2011 and must include complete CONTESTANT INFORMATION including NAME, AGE, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER and EMAIL.

 

EIGHT lucky finalists will be notified by phone and/or EMAIL by SEPTEMBER 1, 2011. IF YOU DON’T RECEIVE a Finalist Notification from us by this date, please try again next year. FINALISTS will compete in decorating single or multi-tiered cakes on site at A SWEET DESIGN Cake Shop on September 24, 2011. Specific contest rules and regulations will be provided to the FINALISTS with their Notification. UPDATES on the Competition and a LIST of the EIGHT FINALISTS will be also be posted on www.asweetdesign.info

The Knot’s Best of Weddings Winner for 2011

For the holiday season bring home a traditional favorite that’s sure to impress!!

Vanilla Sponge Cake, filled with your choice of the following:

~Boysenberry Buttercream

~Cinnamon Buttercream

~Raspberry Jam

~White chocolate Buttercream

*Decorations include edible meringue mushrooms and poinsettia

We will be baking up 2 sizes:

~$50 (serves 20-24 people)

~$25 (serves 10 people)

Yule Logs are available by order only, available between Monday the 20th and Friday the 24th

That’s right, FREE.  Free delivery for holiday orders that are within 10 miles.  I have little elves working overtime that want to drive around town in traffic for you.  So, order up.  Let us deliver to your holiday office party or straight to your front door.

A Sweet Engagement

We were recently asked to do a 3d scrabble cake for a client of ours. This was no ordinary cake, as it was for an engagement! He even had us write out the word, “Will you marry me” using scrabble shaped tiles. I really wish I could have been a ladybug on the wall to see his fiance’s reaction.  🙂

Groom’s Cakes

More and more at weddings you will not only see 1 cake, but 2;  a wedding cake and a groom’s cake.

Many couples are designing groom’s cakes to reflect the groom’s hobbies or interests. Cakes such as a Sport’s Jersey, Tennis Shoe, Golf Clubs etc. have graced our bakery. Take a peek at a few below.

The groom’s cake can be sliced and served along side of the wedding cake or packed to go as a favor for your guests to enjoy as a late night treat. Another option would be to serve it at your rehearsal dinner or next day brunch.

Whatever theme/style or flavor you decide to do for your groom’s cake, it’s a fabulous addition that adds a personal touch to your wedding.
